Besides attending the other meeting events, Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga had reported an oral presentation for 15 minutes on Tuesday, 8th August and had presented a poster titled “Modelling dengue disease with climate variables using geospatial data for Vietnam and Philippines” on Friday, 11th August.

This study aims to improve the knowledge of the dengue by investigating the relationship between dengue incidences and climate variables of temperature and precipitation for Vietnam and Philippines during the period of 2000-2014. Dengue incidence data were collected for 4 different provinces of Vietnam and Philippines. Precipitation data were extracted from satellite observations of GSMaP (Global Satellite Mapping of Precipitation) for evaluating spatial patterns of correlation between diseases and climate variable. Monthly dengue cases in relation with monthly climate variables are predicted using ARIMA (Autoregressive Integrated Moving Average) model for both Vietnam and Philippines. In this poster, the study framework, model used and the results with verification were presented.
