“MAPPING DENGUE VULNERABILITY TO CLIMATE USING GEOSPATIAL TECHNOLOGY FOR

VIETNAM AND PHILIPPINES”

Hanoi, 15 September 2017

Dear Colleagues,

On behalf of the APN project team, it  is my pleasure to announce the first workshop for dissemination the outcome of the project titled “Utilizing geospatial technology to assess health vulnerability to climate change for rural population in Vietnam and Philippines” (Code: CAF2015-RR16-NMY-Pham) will be held in Hanoi, Vietnam on 15 September, 2017. The venue of the workshop will take place at:

          - Build. A6 (VNSC Building), 18  Hoang Quoc Viet, Hanoi.

          - Times: 8h30-11h30, September 15, 2017.

The project has been carried out by scientists from both Vietnam and Philippines, including Vietnam National Satellite Center, National Institute of Hygience and Epidemiology, University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, University of Santo Tomas, and Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services,  leaded by Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga and under advidor of Prof. Nakamura from Dokkyo University (Japan).

A tentative agenda of the workshop includes:

     1. 8h30- 9h00: Reception
              – Email sheet (name, org, email, area of interest)

     2. 9h00 – 9h15: Introduction – APN Project for dengue study (Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga)

     3. 9h15 – 9h30: Dengue prevalence in Vietnam (Dr. Vu Trong Duoc)

     4. 9h30 – 9h45: Statistical Models for Dengue and Malaria Cases in the Philippines. (Dr. Maria-Ruth)

     5. 9h45 - 10h00: JAXA effort of using geospatial data for vector-born diseases (Prof. Nakamura Kenji, invited)

     6. 10h00 -10h15: Mathematical approach to dengue prediction by using remote sensing data (Dr. Pham Thi Thanh Nga)

     7. 10h15 - 10h30: Mapping vulnerability to dengue in Mekong Delta region (Mr. Nguyen Tien Cong)

     8. 10h30 – 11h30: Discussion and Sharing
